Pasta with tomato sauce

Ingredients (1 serving):

  • Pasta80 g
  • Tomato purée170 g (recipe)
  • Garlic – 1 clove
  • Extra virgin olive oil – to taste
  • Basil – to taste
  • Salt – to taste
  • Sugar – to taste

  • Tomato purée170 g (recipe)
  • Garlic – 1 clove
  • Extra virgin olive oil – to taste
  • Basil – to taste
  • Salt – to taste
  • Sugar – to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a little olive oil in a pan and sauté the peeled garlic clove until fragrant.
  2. Add the tomato puree to the pan, along with a bit of water, salt, and sugar to taste. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer, partially covered, for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a bit of pasta cooking water if the sauce starts to dry out.
  3. After 10–15 minutes, bring a pot of water to a boil for the pasta. Once boiling, add salt and cook the pasta. Drain well.
  4. When the sauce is ready, remove the garlic clove, add chopped basil leaves, and stir to combine.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the pan with the sauce and cook over medium heat for 2 minutes, stirring frequently to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
